Games in the 2008 BASA Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Softball League Sunday at the Dandan Elementary School Ballfield were cancelled.<\/p>\n
Power outage was not the culprit this time, as matches were scheduled in broad daylight. Miscommunication was, as several teams, particularly the Choll Aces were not informed of the cancellation.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur game was supposed to start at 9am, we came here before game time and our opponent did not show up. The next time we know, all games today were called off,\u201d Choll Aces assistant manager Felix Remoket said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat happened was they called some teams and they forgot the others. There are players from other teams who came at the ballfield and asked us what happened to the schedule. We told them we don\u2019t know, we were not informed, too,\u201d Choll Aces manager Ray Sablan said.<\/p>\n
Sablan added they are not asking too much from organizers, but appealed to them to inform all managers on the cancellation of games.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know there are other games scheduled Sunday, but at least they should have informed all managers so we don\u2019t have to wake up early, go to the field and wait for nothing,\u201d said Sablan, whose players decided to stay in Dandan and have a picnic with their families.<\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune called league organizer Brian Adelbai to comment on the cancellation of Sunday\u2019s matches, but he has yet to respond at press time.<\/p>\n
Remoket said games were cancelled maybe because of the other tournament set at the Capital Hill Ballfield.<\/p>\n
Players from teams in the Belau league were at the Capital Hill Ballfield competing in the Pacific Trading Co.\u2019s 6th Annual Miller Lite Marianas Cup Co-ed Slow-pitch Softball Qualifier.<\/p>\n
The qualifier was played for two days with Shell Marianas winning the championship for the sixth straight time.<\/p>\n
The Choll Aces and the rest of the participating teams are expecting for the resumption of the Belau league this weekend.<\/p>\n
Twelve teams are vying for the league\u2019s championship. The list include Brotherhood and Man Amigos, who are still undefeated in the tournament, PTI, Auel Auel, Ready Mix, SAI-PAL, PIC, Haga T, Ngiwal, Bombers, and the Falcons.<\/p>\n
The women\u2019s division has five teams, namely the Hitters, Sakudi, Este Ombe, Ohn Sakau, and Atu\u2019Asi. The Hitters and Sakudi are still unbeaten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
