The 2008 Pacific Islands Club Horseshoe Tournament returns for the ninth straight season when competition kicks off at 9am on Sept. 7 on the grounds of the San Antonio hotel.<\/p>\n
The annual one-day tournament, which will award cash prizes to the Top 3 pairs, will follow a random draw, doubles-team and double-elimination bracket format.<\/p>\n
The entrance fee for the tournament is $10 per person, which includes a one-day waterpark pass to all participants.<\/p>\n
Two yeas ago, Irma Halaby and Nick Gross bested a record-setting field of 33 other pairs to win the 2006 edition.<\/p>\n
Halaby and Gross breezed through the elimination round and the semifinals carrying over their momentum in the finals where they defeated the pair of Randy Steele and Skip Bull, 18-16.<\/p>\n
They won $202 with the victory, while Steele and Bull settled for the $100 runner-up prize. Amanda Puleo and Pam Thorpe finished third bringing home $46 after a 12-10 loss to Steele and Bull.<\/p>\n
