Reports that the Commonwealth Health Center\u2019s in-house pharmacy is closed are false, CHC legal counsel Alex Gorman said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know where that\u2019s coming from. It\u2019s not true,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The pharmacy has been closed during the last few weekends but remains open during the week with one pharmacist, he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Administration is aware of the problem\u201d and is working to correct it, Gorman said. <\/p>\n
CHC is currently working on a contract for a part-time pharmacist to work on the weekends, he added. <\/p>\n
For now, Gorman said, workers try to anticipate the needs for the weekend and mix the necessary drugs ahead of time. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s not an ideal situation, he said, but they are making do. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always better to have the pharmacy open,\u201d he said. \u201cAt this point, things are adequate. That\u2019s the best word I can come up with.\u201d<\/p>\n
A private pharmacy, PHI Pharmacy, is also operating inside the hospital, located just at the main entrance of the building.<\/p>\n
Gorman said reports that Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez was on leave were also false. He was in the office yesterday and last week, he added. <\/p>\n
But reports that Joseph Santos resigned from the position of Deputy Secretary for Hospital Administration are correct, he said. Santos resigned for personal reasons; it has nothing to do with the administration, Gorman said. <\/p>\n
