{"id":125898,"date":"2008-09-03T21:50:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-03T21:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b152121b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-09-03T21:50:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-03T21:50:00","slug":"b152122c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b152122c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Five teams confirm for PHILCOWA caging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five teams have so far confirmed to join the maiden season of the Philippine Contract Workers Association Basketball League during a meeting last Tuesday with organizers.<\/p>\n<p>PHILCOWA sports coordinator Pando Muleta said there are five more slots left before they proceed with the opening ceremonies on Sept. 28.<\/p>\n<p>Muleta said they have decided to change the original plan of separating the tournament into two divisions and make it into just an open division format.<\/p>\n<p>He said they are skipping the 35-and-above division.<\/p>\n<p>The venue will be at the CIC Centre basketball court at the back of CIC building along Beach Road.<\/p>\n<p>During the opening ceremonies, awards will be given out, including the Best in Uniform and Best in Muse, who must be 18-25 years old to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>Muleta said the deadline for submission of entries would be on Sept. 21.<\/p>\n<p>Each team will have a maximum of 13 players with an entry fee of $500 for each team.<\/p>\n<p>Muleta said the entry fee could be paid in full or a 50 percent down payment but a team must make sure to pay the 50 percent balance after its first two games or before it could be able to play in its third game.<\/p>\n<p>Another meeting will be held next Tuesday, Sept. 9, to finalize the tournament format and league rules, as well as prizes, trophies and uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>Interested teams are invited to attend the meeting.
