Host Saipan International Green Team defeated the visiting Saipan Community in straight sets, 25-10, 25-13, yesterday in the junior varsity division of the 2008 Coalition of Private Schools volleyball league.<\/p>\n
After failing in their first two assignments this season, the Geckos nailed back-to-back wins as they dealt SCS its fourth loss in as many games.<\/p>\n
The win, come-backing coach Kim Peterson said, brought up her players\u2019 spirits. She said things are just getting better for the team.<\/p>\n
The twin victories also raised the level of optimism for the team\u2019s chances this season.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Green Geckos prevailed over sister team Blue Geckos that redeemed themselves from defeats against Mt. Carmel last Sept. 9 and Grace Christian Academy last Sept. 11.<\/p>\n
The JV Green Geckos will try to keep their momentum going when they face defending champion SDA Knights on Tuesday, Sept. 23.<\/p>\n
Asked what is still lacking from the team, Peterson said they have to work on their technique as well as to improve their communication inside the playing court.<\/p>\n
Losing SCS co-mentor Tamiko Winkfield said her players should work together to be able to catch up. SCS\u2019 other coach is Jackie VanDam.<\/p>\n
Despite the loss, Winkfield said her players are improving. She said most of her players are first-timers.<\/p>\n
SIS-Green\u2019s High School Team was still playing against Marianas Baptist Academy as of press time.<\/p>\n
