The results of Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan\u2019s first-ever \u201cBody Success Challenge\u201d were recently announced and more than $6,000 in cash and prizes were awarded. <\/p>\n
The 29 individuals who completed the competition lost a combined total of 695 lbs. The Body Success Challenge had a $100 entry fee and was a three-month competition that started on June 15, 2008, and had 44 initial competitors. <\/p>\n
Of the 44 competitors, 29 completed the competition\u2014a 66 percent completion rate\u2014by weighing-in and taking their \u201cafter photos\u201d last Sept. 14. <\/p>\n
Gold\u2019s Gym co-owner Eric Plinske said \u201cWe are extremely proud of all our competitors and absolutely amazed with some of the body transformations that have taken place.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following is a summary of the prizes that were up for grabs in the separate men\u2019s and women\u2019s weight loss categories (prizes were awarded for most weight lost as a percentage of original starting weight): <\/p>\n
-First place was $1,000 cash and a free one-year Gold\u2019s Gym membership; <\/p>\n
– Second place was $500 cash and a free six-month Gold\u2019s Gym membership; <\/p>\n
-Third place was $250 cash and a free three-month Gold\u2019s Gym membership. <\/p>\n
The prize for the Most Amazing Body Transformation Category was $500 cash and a PTI camera phone.<\/p>\n
The winners of the women\u2019s weight loss category were: 1st Place \u2013 Fe Mamuyac (lost 37.60 lbs; loss of 24.87 percent of initial body weight); 2nd Place \u2013 Janel Villegas (lost 33.80 lbs; loss of 18.53 percent of initial body weight); and 3rd Place \u2013 Celina Babauta (lost 24 lbs; loss of 14.67 percent of initial body weight).<\/p>\n
The winners of the men\u2019s weight loss category were: 1st Place \u2013 Jack Kiyoshi (lost 57.60 lbs; loss of 23.30 percent of initial body weight); 2nd Place \u2013 David Attao (lost 65.20 lbs; loss of 18.94 percent of initial body weight); and 3rd Place \u2013 Francis Mendiola (lost 52.80 lbs; loss of 16.49 percent of initial body weight).<\/p>\n
The winner of the Most Amazing Transformation was Jeff Boyer (lost 20 lbs; loss of 10.96 percent of initial body weight; loss of 38.80 percent of initial body fat).<\/p>\n
Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan\u2019s Body Success Challenge was primarily a weight loss competition where substantial cash and prizes were awarded to the Top 3 men and top three women who lost the most weight as a percentage of their original starting weight. In addition, there was also a \u201cMost Amazing Body Transformation\u201d category. The winner of the Most Amazing Body Transformation category was chosen by a combination of the most fat lost, the most lean body mass (muscle) gained, and the most visibly impressive body transformation based upon their before and after photos.<\/p>\n
[B]Free \u2018Tips for Success\u2019 seminars[\/B]<\/p>\n
Participants also had access to free \u201cTips for Success\u201d seminars at Gold\u2019s Gym each Saturday morning during the first five weeks of the competition. The free seminar topics included \u201cEffective Nutrition for Fat Loss,\u201d \u201cCardio Training for a High Speed Fat Burn,\u201d \u201cResistance Exercises that Guaranty Results,\u201d \u201cAccelerating Your Success with Proper Nutritional Supplements,\u201d and \u201cThe Latest Technology in Weight Loss\u2013The BodyBugg.\u201d<\/p>\n
Based upon the success of the initial Body Success Challenge, Gold\u2019s Gym plans to launch a 2nd Body Success Challenge in January 2009, right after the New Year.
