Torres snapped Raphael Zapanta\u2019s four straight wins in the Bing Energy Drink Prince\/Princess of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament after ruling the September roll-off Sunday night at the Saipan Bowling Center in Oleai.<\/p>\n<p>Torres, who won the January edition, averaged 187.75 pinfalls per game to finish with a four-game total of 751 pinfalls and triumphed by 71 pins over runner-up Zach Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>The September champion got off on the right foot, firing 180 in the first game. He came tumbling down in the second game, struggling with a pedestrian 148, before closing out strong with scores of 220 and 203 in the final two games. Incidentally the 220 he rolled in the third game was a tourney high.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz, meanwhile, tattooed a total of 680 pins to finish with an even 170 average. The April champion had a four-game series of 122, 146, 207, and 205. <\/p>\n<p>While Torres was busy earning his second monthly championship of the year, six-time winner Zapanta opened up with a so-so performance and never recovered.<\/p>\n<p>Zapanta, who won the February, March, May, June, July, and August editions of the roll-off, debuted with 112 pinfalls, the third lowest in the eight-team field. <\/p>\n<p>He had 159 in Game 2, 188 in Game 3, and 187 in Game 3 to close out with 646 pinfalls, though still good for third place.<\/p>\n<p>It was Zapanta\u2019s lowest score in the monthly roll-off and his 161.50 was also his lowest average.<\/p>\n<p>Torres, Cruz, and Zapanta pocketed the top finishers\u2019 prize of $20, $15, and $10, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth placer Troy Verdaguer averaged 155.25 with games of 113, 149, 144, 215 for a total of 621, while fifth-ranked Marion McKenzie had an average of 143 (131, 85, 199, 127) for a total of 572.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the standings were sixth Leeanne Yarobwemal, who had a total of 496; Marcel Mckenzie seventh (371) and eighth Toby Verdaguer (319).<\/p>\n<p>Like the Budweiser King and Queen of the Lanes Monthly Bowling Tournament, the Bing Prince\/Princess of the Lanes is sponsored by MARPAC.
