A short circuit in the stereo system triggered a fire at Caesar Sauna in Garapan Tuesday night, injuring one employee.<\/p>\n
Medics treated the 30-year-old female employee at the scene for minor burns in her right palm, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.<\/p>\n
DPS spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said DPS Central received a report of a fire at Caesar Sauna Tuesday at 10:24pm.<\/p>\n
After four minutes, firefighters arrived at the scene and put the blaze under control at 11:01pm, Ogumoro said. <\/p>\n
According to the DPS Fire Prevention Unit, the fire was confined to a small room on the second floor that was occupied by one of the employees.<\/p>\n
Several occupants of the Caesar Sauna repeatedly attempted to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers, but were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
Ogumoro said further investigation revealed that the electrical wires of a stereo system plugged into a wall-mounted receptacle had short-circuited. This caused the wooden base of the stereo system to catch on fire.<\/p>\n
The DPS spokesperson said investigators noted that the room had a leaking roof, where water trailed toward the electrical outlet.<\/p>\n
Moderate fire damage was confined to the affected room while smoke damage included almost half of the second floor.<\/p>\n
However, Ogumoro said, major water damage spread out across the second floor as a result of suppression activities and the leaking roof.<\/p>\n
