Officers and board of directors of the Marianas Association of Filipino Engineers and Architects took their oath of office during their induction at Fiesta Resort and Spa\u2019s Hibiscus Hall Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Philippine Consul General Wilfredo Maximo administered the oath for MAFEA 2008-2009 officers and directors, while Department of Public Works Building Safety Code director Martin Sablan served as the guest speaker.<\/p>\n
Norberto I. De Guzman, a civil engineer with the Henry K. Pangelinan & Associates, is the MAFEA president. Hector Sevilla, an architect with MD Group & Associates, is vice-president for internal, while civil engineer Ruel Magtalas of Laolao Bay Development Inc. is vice-president for external. Enrique Tabanda, a civil engineer with Maeda Pacific Corp., is this year\u2019s public relations officer. <\/p>\n
The other officers are electrical engineer Joseph Liberato as treasurer; electronic and communication engineer Annie Liberato as assistant treasurer; mechanical engineer Carlito J. Marquez as secretary; civil engineer Dominador Aquino as auditor; and civil engineer Fernando Fortadez as business manager.<\/p>\n
For the board of directors, civil engineer Henry P. Bautista of E.M. Chen is this year\u2019s chairman while civil engineer Andrew Mesina is the vice-chairman.<\/p>\n
The other directors are architect Roger Talapian, architect Mirope Casipit, civil engineer Randy Jacob, civil engineer Rommel Crisostomo, civil engineer Noli Villacrusis, and architect Ismael Cuenca.<\/p>\n
In his acceptance speech, MAFEA president De Guzman said that, in line with their motto\u2014\u201cWe Build\u201d\u2014 the organization will be lending its hands in the best way its members can to be of help to the CNMI community and the Philippines.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to build a concrete and dependable organization as what other groups have done and are still is doing,\u201d De Guzman said.<\/p>\n
He said their slogan is professional enhancement in preserving the high ethical standard in the new millennium.<\/p>\n
\u201cMAFEAns\u2019 learning process didn\u2019t stop when we obtained our bachelor\u2019s degree, as there is what we call continuing education. Technology in the new millennium changes so fast, and you need to enhance and upgrade your knowledge,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n
