{"id":128460,"date":"2008-11-30T21:44:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-30T21:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b27122cd-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-11-30T21:44:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-30T21:44:00","slug":"b27122de-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b27122de-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Burglary, theft incidents on the rise on Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Burglary and theft cases have been increasing at an alarming rate on Saipan the past several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Public Safety reported only this week a burglary and theft incident that happened at a residence in Dandan last Nov. 12.<\/p>\n<p>DPS acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said Police Officer David Rabauliman, who responded to a call at a residence in Dandan, interviewed a couple who said that they have been robbed of three laptops, several pieces of jewelry, a DVD player, video games players, and other items totaling $8,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no evidence of a break in. Officer Rabauliman learned that the main door was not locked. This case is under investigation,\u201d the acting DPS spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>The couple told police that they left for work that morning at 9am. The husband arrived home at 12pm that day and found his living room in disarray.<\/p>\n<p>Cabinets and drawers were left open and he noticed several items were missing. He immediately called the police.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said a crime scene technician arrived and processed the scene. <\/p>\n<p>Saipan Tribune learned that the victims are Jonjie and Nhing Reyes.<\/p>\n<p>The Reyes couple described the stolen items as one black IBM Thinkpad laptop; one gray Dell Latitude laptop; one white Asus Eee mini-laptop; one black portable Playstation; two portable Playstations; one pink Sony digital camera; one blue 4G Ipod mini mp3 player; one Audiovox portable DVD player in a black Case Logic bag; one Swiss Army knife; and one Gerber multi-function pliers.<\/p>\n<p>The stolen jewelry include one gold baht chain necklace with \u201cI love you\u201d dog tag pendant; one gold ring with diamond \u201cJ\u201d initial; one gold ring with a ruby birthstone; one gold and diamond ID bracelet with the name \u201cJonjie\u201d; and one gold and diamond 48-stone tennis bracelet.<\/p>\n<p>Other jewelry stolen were one Rositas ring and earrings set; one blue sapphire ring and earrings set; two while gold necklaces with pendant; one stud heart-shaped diamond earring; and one gold chain necklace.<\/p>\n<p>The Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $1,000 cash to anyone who can provide information about the Dandan burglary that will lead to an arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan Tribune also learned that on Thursday a room at New Century Apartment in Lower Dandan was burglarized and stolen were a laptop and assorted jewelry.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, an electronics shop in Garapan was also burglarized and some items were stolen.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, a restaurant employee in Garapan was also robbed by still unidentified person.<\/p>\n<p>DPS has yet to release to the media information related to the three cases along with many other burglary incidents on the island the past several weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burglary and theft cases have been increasing at an alarming rate on Saipan the past several weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-128460","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/128460","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=128460"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/128460\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=128460"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=128460"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=128460"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
