{"id":128878,"date":"2008-12-15T21:38:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-15T21:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b2bc4661-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-12-15T21:38:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-15T21:38:00","slug":"b2bc4674-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b2bc4674-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Fitial beats Quinata in \u2018The Annihilation\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[B][I]First of a three-part series[\/I][\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Kelvin \u201cThe Big Hit\u201d Fitial capped Friday\u2019s Trench Warz IX: The Annihilation with a first round beat down of Reuben \u201cThe Booben\u201d Quinata in the main event.<\/p>\n<p>In front of a jam-packed crowd inside Saipan World Resort\u2019s Royal Taga Hall, the Marianas Elite heavyweight hammered the Spike 22 Fight Academy fighter into submission, forcing him to tap out a mere 4:25 seconds gone in the fight.<\/p>\n<p>Quinata, a PXC Preba Hao champ in Guam, was repeatedly hit in the head by Fitial\u2019s stinging jabs as the Saipan fighter\u2019s reach proved effective against the smaller but heftier Quinata.<\/p>\n<p>By the first minute of the match, Fitial had already succeeded in opening a cut above Quinata\u2019s right eye and the latter tried to negate his opponent\u2019s reach advantage\u2014and at the same time prevent further damage to his eye\u2014by taking the fight to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>While Quinata wasn\u2019t entirely successful with the tactic, he was able to put a stop to the pounding by pinning Fitial on one of the sides of the octagon.<br \/>\nBoth fighters flayed away at each other with what appendage they had free, but when it became obvious that the fight was stalling, celebrity referee Frank \u201cThe Crank\u201d Camacho stepped in and separated the two.<\/p>\n<p>After a half minute of more stand-up fighting, both fighters ended in the ground with Quinata initially getting the upperhand by utilizing his entire 244 lbs. to staple Fitial on the mat.<\/p>\n<p>The pride of Saipan, however, turned the tables on Quinata and proceeded to mount him and pounded him some more, exacerbating  the condition of the Guam fighter\u2019s now crimson face, as blood now proceeded to trickle down from his brow.<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, Quinata waved the white flag of surrender by indicating to Camacho that he had enough and was quitting.<\/p>\n<p>The whole venue exploded as Fitial leapt up from the mat and raised his two arms in triumph, while Quinata ingloriously retreated to his corner.<\/p>\n<p>While elated with the outcome of the fight that raised his mixed martial arts record to 15 wins, two draws, and five losses, Fitial said he was kind of disappointed the match ended so abruptly. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t expect the fight to end that quick. I thought he was ready and stuff and I wanted it to be a good fight because I\u2019ve been training my hardest. I don\u2019t know\u2026 I wanted to go stand-and-bang but he was trying to get on the ground but I already got my jujitsu [training] on the ground too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Quinata said that he \u201cran out of gas\u201d but mentioned that he would like to get a rematch against Fitial.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he would give him one, Fitial said he would only accede to one if Quinata trains harder the next time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll give him the rematch. Everybody that asks me to a rematch, I give them.
