{"id":128994,"date":"2008-12-18T21:23:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-18T21:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b2bd1cc5-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-12-18T21:23:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-18T21:23:00","slug":"b2bd1cd6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b2bd1cd6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"DCCA lone unbeaten team in softball league"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs won the battle of undefeated teams in the men\u2019s division of the 2008 Inter Government\/Business Softball League after crushing Commonwealth Health Center, 38-13, Wednesday night at the Miguel \u201cTan Ge\u201d Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.<\/p>\n<p>DCCA gained its eighth win in as many games, while CPA absorbed its first loss after seven matches.<\/p>\n<p>The defending champions may have routed CPA based on the final scores, but the match was a close one in the first five innings, until DCCA stepped on the gas in the seventh scoring 19 runs.<\/p>\n<p>CPA even had the lead, 13-12, after five complete innings, but handed the win to DCCA when the former failed to score in the last two innings.<\/p>\n<p>DCCA pitcher Mel Sakisat had a two-run homer at the top of the sixth to seize the lead, 14-13. DCCA kept the lead after six complete innings when CPA\u2019s first batter was beaten to first and the next two flied out.<\/p>\n<p>The defending champions pulled way in the last inning, scoring one run after another. DCCA had three batters making three trips at-bat.<\/p>\n<p>DCCA\u2019s break away at the top of the seventh was highlighter by Julian Camacho\u2019s grand slam. Camacho went 4-for-7 at-bat, scored four runs and had six RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>Third baseman Joey Dela Cruz was 6-for-7 making two homers and six RBIs. Craig Sanchez and Peter Camacho were the two other DCCA sluggers who homered in the game.<\/p>\n<p>DCCA was 42-for-64 at-bat for an average of .657.<\/p>\n<p>[B]Docomo 26, Law &#038; Order 2[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>In the first game in the men\u2019s division, Docomo walloped Law &#038; Order, 26-2.<\/p>\n<p>Docomo had five sluggers scoring one homer apiece to improve to a 4-4 record. Law &#038; Order dropped to a 3-5 slate after scoring only in the fifth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Gloyd Martin went 3-for-4 at-bat for Docomo recording three runs and five RBIs. He had a roundtripper in the first inning and a two-run triple in the fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Another outstanding performer for Docomo was Payton Sakuma, who went 2-for-3 at-bat and hit a three-run homer in the third. He also had five RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>[B]CRM\/DEQ 13, CHC 9[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>The last game of the night had CRM\/DEQ thwarting Commonwealth Health Center, 13-9.<\/p>\n<p>DEQ\/CRM claimed its third win in eight games, while CHC had its fifth loss in seven matches.<\/p>\n<p>Jess Borja went 3-for-4 at-bat for DEQ\/CRM and scored two RBIs.
