Joe Demapan showed consistency in the two-day Ace of Aces Tournament to top the Saipan Golfers Association\u2019s yearend event.<\/p>\n
Demapan tallied a net 139 in the SGA Ace of the Aces Tournament after firing a net 69 in the first round of the event (Dec. 13) at Kingfisher Golf Links. He closed out with a net 79 in the second and final round (Dec. 14) at the Coral Ocean Point course.<\/p>\n
Demapan was this year\u2019s November Ace and defeated 10 other monthly Ace winners and eight non-Ace winners for the coveted trophy.<\/p>\n
Also shooting a 139 in two rounds was July Ace Nobert Sablan. Sablan was off to a good start, recording the lowest net in the first round with his 65 at Kingfisher. But he failed to tame the Agingan Point course in the second round hitting a 74.<\/p>\n
The former SGA president settled for second place, losing to Demapan in the scorecard playoffs.<\/p>\n
There was a tie for third place between Tony Deleon Guerrero and SGA president Martin Sablan, but the former won the tiebreak.<\/p>\n
Tony and Martin had identical scores of 141 in two rounds with the former nailing the second best score in the first round with a net 68 before struggling in the second round with a net 73.<\/p>\n
Martin had a rough start hitting a 76 at Kingfisher, but he redeemed himself at COP with a second-round best net of 65.<\/p>\n
Frances Sablan and September Ace Art I. Deleon Guerrero fired similar scores of 142 in two rounds with the lady golfer prevailing in the tiebreak and taking fifth place.<\/p>\n
Frances had a net 72 in the first round and improved her game a bit in the final round with a net 70. Art recorded a 71 in the first round and closed out the tournament with another net 71.<\/p>\n
Second to sixth placers in the Ace of the Aces event received gifts and cash prizes, while Demapan took home a glass trophy during SGA\u2019s Christmas Party at Charley\u2019s Cabaret in Pacific Islands Club Friday.<\/p>\n
Glass trophies were also given to the 12 monthly Ace winners, namely Mariano Fajardo (January), Joe I. Sablan (February) Ned Norita (March), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April) Carl Hocog (May) , Edward Manibusan (June), Nobert Sablan (July), Ron Hodges (August), Art Deleon Guerrero (September), Steve Balakrishna (October), Joe Demapan (November), and Jess Castro (December).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
