Shorstop Cliff Sillil hit a one-run single to lift the Joeten Motors Jets to a 10-9 victory over Pacific Oriental, Inc, in the men\u2019s division of the 2008 Inter Government\/Business Softball League Thursday night at the Capital Hill Ballfield.<\/p>\n
The Jets entered the bottom of the seventh inning behind by one, 8-9. Extra hitter Peter Sablan led off for the Jets and was beaten to first on a 6-3 putout play. Catcher Jess Taitano singled, while the Jets were called for the second out when Mel Tenorio flied out to centerfield.<\/p>\n
With Taitano on third and with two outs, extra hitter Fred Kaipat doubled bringing Taitano home and helping the Jets tie the game, 9-all.<\/p>\n
Sillil was next at-bat and singled allowing Kaipat to score the game-winning run.<\/p>\n
The Jets lost the lead in the fifth inning when POI recorded a six-run top of the fifth, 9-7.<\/p>\n
But the Jets regained their composure shutting out POI in the last two innings with relief pitchers Donald Flores and Mel Tenorio doing a great job on the mound. Flores and Tenorio had one strike out each in the sixth and the former finished the job in the seventh allowing only two hits and catching a fly ball. POI\u2019s two other outs at the top of the seventh were off a fly out to rightfield by leadoff batter William Sablan and tagged out to second base by Hector Efraim off runner and POI rightfielder Mabel Ngirngemelas.<\/p>\n
The win improved the Jets\u2019 record to 6-2 putting them in a tie for third place with No Zone, while POI dropped to a 3-3 slate.<\/p>\n
[B]Legislature 26, Hopwood 0[\/B]<\/p>\n
In the first game of the night, Legislature walked away with a 26-0 demolition of Hopwood.<\/p>\n
The game ended after only four and a half innings with the Legislature\u2019s defense allowing no Hopwood runners reaching second base.<\/p>\n
Third baseman Dennis Cabrera went 4-for-4 at-bat scoring four runs and three RBIs.<\/p>\n
Legislature snapped its two-game losing skid and gained its fifth win in eight games.<\/p>\n
Hopwood remained winless after seven matches.

\nBeach Boys 19, CUC 6[\/B]<\/p>\n
In the second game, the Beach Boys also had an easy win cruising past the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., 19-6.<\/p>\n
B.J. Sablan made back-to-back homers and scored four RBIs. He was 3-for-4 at the plate. Two other Beach Boys sluggers had one roundtripper apiece with rightfielder Max Kadiasang and centerfielder J.J. Suel hitting a two-run homer each in the second inning.<\/p>\n
The Beach Boys now have a 6-1 record and share the No. 2 spot with the Commonwealth Ports Authority and Freedom Air.<\/p>\n
Defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is leading the league with an immaculate 8-0 record.<\/p>\n
