I’ve been looking around for a blanket to cover my feet. But I heard rumors St. Nick (Al Gore) came to town and collected everything. Apparently, he and dooms criers have shifted their propaganda from “global warming” to “climate change”. But why would he scrooge my blanket?

***

At the geopolitical level, US-Sino relations were once woefully pathetic. Washington liberals would find every iota of dirt to demonize an awakening global giant, fearful of its economic prowess in Asia. It even employed human rights issues to embarrass China. This thoughtless arrogance has shifted today. China has $1.5 trillion in reserves our country may have to borrow to pay off its huge debts. And Anti-China liberals in the US Congress may have to hush it for the next four years.

***

I have seen a parade of Atlases Shrug during and after serving as public servants, their performance, shamefully, mediocre. This must be the result of the lack of a moral compass to serve as a beacon light so they could employ vision rather than television in upholding their oath of office. Or it may also be attributable to the inability to conquer the excesses of arrogance and ineptitude or the obvious inhibition and fear to domesticating selfishness.

***

A few have been able to secure their PhDs in what’s known as humility, integrity, honesty and dignity. PhD stands for passionate, hungry and driven. I’d like to know what are you made of and whether your commitment is supported by a conviction to do what is right for the people you wish to represent either on the most coveted seat (governor) or as a policymaker. If you haven’t received your PhD, it’s time to leave entering or re-entering the political arena permanently.

***

The Scrooge of Christmas is here and will be around for more than a decade. How sad that we have allowed the inertia of political gamesmanship to get us pinned against each other. How do we dig ourselves out of this fatal hole? The crab theory is in full bloom. And so it seems there’s no hope in sight to freeing ourselves from ourselves. Thanks Scrooge for all the screwy odd balls.

***

Image Is Everything: CEOs of the three carmakers came into Washington in their $20 million private jets to ask for bailouts. Too, AIG CEOs came to ask for the same while pampering themselves with over half-a-million dollar expense, including lavish dinners and golf outings. Wow! And they’re expecting taxpayers to bankroll their loans? How about some sense of humility?

***

However Scrooge may be around on every corner, there’s hope ahead if you turn to Divine Providence for sturdy guidance.
