A leather craftsman from Paris, France arrives at dawn today for a nine-day demonstration on the art of making a signature shoulder bag by hand.<\/p>\n
Guillaume Dulatillion will begin the demonstration at 11am today at the Herm\u00e8s Boutique of the DFS Galleria Saipan.<\/p>\n
Dulatillion was also here last year for a similar cause, which is to demonstrate the unique Herm\u00e8s craftsmanship practiced in Paris workshops for over 170 years.<\/p>\n
Boutique manager Faye HJ Jang confirmed the arrival of Dulatillion yesterday.<\/p>\n
Customers of the Paris-based company will have the opportunity to see how the master craftsman makes a bag at the boutique from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5.<\/p>\n
The demonstrations are set at 11am to 3pm and 6pm to 10pm.<\/p>\n
Those who have Herm\u00e8s bags that need to be repaired could bring them to Dulatillion.<\/p>\n
Dulatillion will then bring the bags to Paris, where the original maker of the bag would personally repair it. Every Herm\u00e8s product has a patch that identifies the name and code of the maker of that particular product.<\/p>\n
Jang said it takes about 17 days for a master craftsman to finish a leather bag because of the intricate stitching process.<\/p>\n
The most expensive item currently on display at the boutique is worth $26,000. It is made of crocodile skin with diamond designs and accessories.<\/p>\n
DFS Galleria Saipan sales assistant manager Wolf Mojica said they are pleased to have this great feature for Saipan and the public is invited to come and watch. <\/p>\n
The craftsman will manufacture, by hand stitching, several leather hand bags and explain to people how it is done.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
