{"id":129217,"date":"2008-12-29T21:21:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-29T21:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b2e825dc-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2008-12-29T21:21:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-29T21:21:00","slug":"b2e825f0-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/b2e825f0-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Male tourist drowns at Micro Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A tourist drowned while swimming with his daughter at Micro Beach in Garapan last week, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>DPS spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said Takeyuki Wakasa, 59, a Japanese, was pronounced dead by a doctor at the Commonwealth Health Center on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 3:21pm.<\/p>\n<p>Ogumoro said Wakasa, who had a history of chest pain and shortness of breathing, was found with fluid in his lungs.<\/p>\n<p>Ogumoro said that DPS received a report of a possible drowning incident at Micro Beach Tuesday last week at 2:56pm.<\/p>\n<p>According to the preliminary investigation, Wakasa was swimming with his 13-year-old daughter when he decided to go further toward the deeper part of the ocean. The daughter remained near the shoreline. <\/p>\n<p>About 30 minutes to an hour later, Wakasa was found motionless and face down on the surface of the water, a quarter mile from the beach.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was placed aboard a commercial boat. He had no pulse and was not breathing.
