Wiseman sentenced Huiliang Gao to one year in prison, all suspended, except for seven days, for assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman gave Gao credit for the days he had already served in jail. After completing the prison term, Gao will be placed on a two-year probation.<\/p>\n<p>The judge ordered the defendant to write a letter of apology to the victim and required him to perform 200 hours of community service.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman ordered Gao to pay a $200 fine, $25 in court assessment fee, plus probation fee.<\/p>\n<p>Gao was charged with three counts of assault and battery, and one count of disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant was accused of hitting his former girlfriend in the back with a lighted cigarette, kicking her on the leg, and punching her repeatedly in the head on July 11 and 17, 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Gao entered a plea agreement with the government. He pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery.
