David<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>For the first time, Advanced Language &amp; Academic Institute and the Saipan Community School join forces to form a team to debut at the 2012 Marianas March Against Cancer happening tonight at 6pm at the Hopwood Jr. High School field.<\/p>\n<p>Comprised of students, teachers, other staff, and parents of both schools, Team ALAI\/SCS is headed by captains Nina Rivera, Travis Hurst, and C.J. Libut.<\/p>\n<p>Both schools were inspired to form a team by Clarie Kosack, a yoga instructor and breast cancer survivor. The team admires Kosack, whom they described as a strong and discerning woman for what she has gone through. \u201cHer journey is truly a phenomenal one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fundraising efforts of Team ALAI\/SCS will include selling snacks and drinks at their tent. They also plan to pass out fliers and pamphlets to those who will be attending tonight&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<p>Team ALAI\/SCS noted that the annual MMAC event makes the community \u201cunderstand that no one is alone\u201d in the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForming a team has been a great way to get everyone excited about helping others. It gave a wonderful opportunity to opening the eyes of students about a very real and very sad disease,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Clarissa V.
