Matubis, were found.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer confirmed with the Saipan Tribune that investigators found a rope at the scene where the skeletal remains were spotted by a farmer in a secluded farm in Marpi last Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The officer, who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity, refused to elaborate exactly where the rope was found \u201cas investigation is ongoing in the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports indicated that the person probably committed suicide by hanging but investigators are still not making a conclusion as the cause of death has yet to be determined.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Prosecutor Kevin Lynch on Wednesday said they will consult Guam\u2019s chief medical examiner, Dr. Aurelio Espinola, to determine the cause of death of the remains.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said yesterday that detectives are still examining the evidence taken from the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this time, we can only release information that will not hinder the investigation of the case,\u201d Ogumoro said.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old Matubis was reported missing since July 30 last year. His company-owned service pickup was recovered near Kalabera Cave last Aug. 19.<\/p>\n<p>The farm where the remains were found is about a 10-minute drive west of Kalabera Cave, according to DPS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A rope was among the evidence recovered at the scene where the remains of a person believed to be the missing Filipino surveyor, Alex M.
