Ol\u2019Aces capitalized on an erratic performance by the D-9ers to cruise to a 17-7 win in their game in the Big League division of the 2009 Saipan Little League Baseball Tuesday night at the Francisco \u201cTan Ko\u201d Palacios Ballfield.<\/p>\n
Ol\u2019Aces scored 11 of their total runs on D-9ers\u2019 fielding and passing errors. Starting pitcher Ryan Lisua reached home plate three times on passed balls. He went 3-for-5 at bat, made four runs, and complemented his good batting performance with an impressive stint on the mound. The lefty had eight strikeouts in five innings pitched.<\/p>\n
Lisua\u2019s counterpart in D-9ers, Ton Castro, also did a great job on the mound, but only in the first two innings. Castro allowed only one hit, walked two, and struck out three in the first two innings.<\/p>\n
With Castro in control and D-9ers\u2019 defense hanging on, the game ended in a deadlock after two innings, 1-all. Chad Atalig scored D-9ers\u2019 first run on a Dave Camacho single, while Lisua made it home on a passed ball.<\/p>\n
The succeeding innings saw Ol\u2019Aces\u2019 runners reaching home plate one after another, while D-9ers struggled with the ball and committed costly errors that allowed the former to take a 10-run win.<\/p>\n
Ol\u2019Aces tallied five runs at the top of the third, nailing three of them off D-9ers\u2019 miscues\u2014on two passed balls and a third baseman error. In the fourth inning, Lisua scored on another passed ball, while third baseman Jimmy Brel recorded his second run on a Mario Salas single. Ol\u2019Aces added six more runs in the fifth, three of them were unearned, and closed out with two runs on passed balls and one on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.<\/p>\n
Brel hit 4-for-5 at the plate for Ol\u2019Aces and had one triple and an RBI. Second baseman Leo Galarse was 3-for-4, made a double, and scored three runs. Shortstop Juan Iguel and Salas went only 1-for-4 and 2-for-4, respectively, but had two RBIs apiece.<\/p>\n
Dave Camacho led D-9ers\u2019 offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate. He had two RBIs and one double. The rest of D-9ers sluggers struggled at bat against Lisua. The D-9ers hit only 7-for-34 for a batting average of .170.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
