David<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>The Office on Aging is seeking the help of the Department of Public Works to prevent the possible collapse of the office&#8217;s walls due to heavy downpour on the island the past few days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI need DPW to reroute the water. You look at the wall and it&#8217;s buckling already,\u201d Aging director Rose Mondala told reporters yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Mondala said she and staffer David Celis were at the office Monday night to make sure that the office doesn&#8217;t get inundated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time there&#8217;s rain, we have to come here [Aging Office] so we don&#8217;t get flooded,\u201d explained Mondala. \u201cBefore, I used to do it alone. Now David helps me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Mondala, Monday&#8217;s downpour resulted in water \u201ccoming so hard it was like Niagara Falls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said the Aging Office already spent $400 for water blasting services due to the heavy rains, which also caused about a half-foot flood at the front and back sides of their parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Mondala disclosed that this problem started two years ago. \u201cWe didn&#8217;t think it&#8217;s going to be like this,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Aging director said she plans to meet with DPW Secretary Martin Sablan to request his agency&#8217;s assistance and show him a picture of Monday night&#8217;s misfortune.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI already saw him a week ago and told him about our situation in passing,\u201d added Mondala.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Clarissa V.
