Eugenio<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>U.S. Interior assistant secretary for insular areas Tony Babauta will be on Saipan today mainly to take part in the opening of the Department of Public Health&#8217;s Hemodialysis Center.<\/p>\n<p>This will be Babauta&#8217;s first visit to the CNMI since the release of the final worker regulations but because he will only be here for a few hours, there&#8217;s no telling whether he will be able to discuss with CNMI officials the final rule or the Interior&#8217;s recommendation to U.S. Congress on the status of long-term foreign workers.<\/p>\n<p>Press secretary Angel Demapan, when asked for comment, said that Gov. Benigno R. Fitial will also be at the hemodialysis center ribbon cutting but he&#8217;s not aware of any other meeting between the governor and Babauta.<\/p>\n<p>OIA has been instrumental in the completion of the hemodialysis center, and this is a reason for Babauta taking part in the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The last time Babauta was here was in July to sign a $2.26 million grant to develop geothermal energy and bring the CNMI&#8217;s fading economy back to life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Haidee V.
