To show their appreciation, students and staff of the Saipan Seventh-Day Adventist School presented the SDA Clinic with a certificate of appreciation for its generous contribution to the school\u2019s scholarship program.<\/p>\n
About 17 students from toddler to 10th grade joined school principal Michael Berglund and accountant\/PR director Virle Shay Gayatin in presenting the certificate to the clinic staff headed by clinic director Kenneth Pierson in a brief ceremony at the clinic on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thank SDA Clinic for providing scholarships to our students. We especially thank all the employees\u2014from providers to the maintenance staff\u2014who made this scholarship available. We commend you for your hard work,\u201d Berglund said as he handed the certificate to Pierson.<\/p>\n
According to Berglund, SDA\u2019s mission on Saipan is \u201cto leave the island a better place than we found it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the partnership of the school and clinic, we provide quality health care and Christian education, making our mission possible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Pierson said they are very pleased with the wonderful job the school is doing for the students. \u201cIt\u2019s really something we feel privileged to provide. The scholarship makes it possible for all children of economic backgrounds and races to attend the SDA School,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Berglund told reporters in an interview that the clinic awarded some $50,000 in scholarship funds this school year, the first time that the clinic got involved in the scholarship program.<\/p>\n
The scholarship program, Berglund said, helped a total of 34 scholars from pre-school to 8th grade to obtain a quality education.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that the clinic board on Thursday agreed to donate another $50,000 to the scholarship program next school year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really nice that we have the support of our sister institution, that they support our cause. The amount of money they give is far and away and we just feel really blessed,\u201d said Berglund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
