Berglund promoted this year 11 eighth graders to high school.<\/p>\n<p>Bearden is the daughter of Brian and Clarissa Bearden. She is this school year\u2019s valedictorian and recipient of the Principal\u2019s Award. She was also recognized for her participation in the school\u2019s student council body where she is the vice president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was surprised and I didn\u2019t expect it! I only learned of the honor during the ceremonies and it feels great. I am very happy and proud of what I have achieved,\u201d she told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>The 14-year-old dedicated her awards to her 68-year-old grandmother Carmen Tanaka. <\/p>\n<p>Bearden plans to pursue high school at either the Saipan Southern High School or Calvary Christian Academy. She dreams of becoming a surgeon.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s class salutatorian is Lacorte, the daughter of Ernie and Jho Lacorte. The 13-year-old will continue her studies at Calvary Christian Academy next school year.<\/p>\n<p>Lacorte was also named the most valuable player for the school\u2019s volleyball team and was recognized for her participation in the student body organization as the group\u2019s secretary.<\/p>\n<p>Like Bearden, Lacorte said the honor was unexpected. \u201cI feel proud of myself and I am so happy,\u201d she said.
