All is set for the 2011 Pistang Pinoy (Filipino Fiesta) organized by the United Filipino organization on June 12, from 10am to 6pm at the Civic Center in Susupe.<\/p>\n
Major sponsors for the event are IT&E, Marpac, Western Union, Coca-Cola, and Tan Siu Lin Foundation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community can expect a whole day of fun and entertainment as we celebrate our Philippine Independence Day,\u201d UFO president Bong Malasarte told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n
The annual celebration is scheduled right after the flag raising ceremony and program arranged by the Philippine Consulate General at the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will participate in the Consulate-sponsored event, then followed by the Pistang Pinoy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Malasarte said a number of performers have been lined up to showcase their talents throughout the celebration. Some 20 vendors will also set up their booths at the event. <\/p>\n
According to Malasarte, they also plan to host a tong-its tournament for card game enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be a minimal entrance fee and a prize for the winner,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Although it was hard for them to solicit sponsorships from private companies, Malasarte said the organizing committee managed to pull it off.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole committee really worked hard to make this a fun celebration for all Filipinos on Saipan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Malasarte invited not just the Filipinos but other community members to take part in the festivities.<\/p>\n
\u201cForget about your worries and stress by joining us this Sunday at the Pistang Pinoy. Let\u2019s all enjoy together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Malasarte especially urged all organization members under UFO to participate.<\/p>\n
