A police officer sprayed pepper mace at a man who allegedly just beat up his wife and threatened her with a machete at their residence in San Vicente last Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Rhiner Aguon Tiberke, 36, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and criminal mischief.<\/p>\n
Tiberke was set to be taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing. A $50,000 cash bail was initially imposed for the defendant\u2019s temporary release.<\/p>\n
Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that that Wednesday at 9pm, two police officers responded to San Vicente after receiving a call about a domestic violence incident.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said when the officers arrived at the house, they observed Tiberke chasing his wife, who was carrying an infant and running towards the main road.<\/p>\n
Tiberke stopped when he saw the police vehicle. The wife then told the police officer that Tiberke assaulted her and threatened to kill her with a machete.<\/p>\n
When the two officers approached Tiberke, the defendant repeatedly shouted at them to get out from his property as it was his problem with his wife.<\/p>\n
Tiberke allegedly refused to be arrested, was belligerent and combative as the struggled with the officers.<\/p>\n
At this juncture, one officer sprayed pepper mace, causing the suspect to calm down.<\/p>\n
Prior to the incident, the couple had an argument. Tiberke then allegedly pulled the victim\u2019s hair and slapped her once on the face.<\/p>\n
The victim got out of the house to call her family member, but the defendant grabbed a machete and pointed it toward her.<\/p>\n
The wife was scared as she was carrying their baby. She called the police.<\/p>\n
The defendant started breaking things in the house and hitting their car with the machete. When a police car arrived, the victim ran down with her baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
