{"id":152814,"date":"2011-06-16T22:09:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-16T22:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bc6d33fd-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-06-16T22:09:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-16T22:09:00","slug":"bc6d3411-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bc6d3411-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Broadband townhall meetings this June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One Economy, CNMI Department of Commerce, BroadMap LLC, and the New America Foundation will be conducting a town hall meeting to understand residents\u2019 attitudes toward broadband.<\/p>\n<p>The program is part of an initiative of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to develop and maintain a comprehensive, interactive, and searchable nationwide map of existing broadband capability and availability throughout each state or territory. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, One Economy aims to improve broadband adoption in CNMI by better understanding the barriers to adopting broadband that residents may face. <\/p>\n<p>The following confirmed scheduled Village\/Town Hall meetings will be held in June:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Monday, June 20, 6pm at the Tanapag Youth Center<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tuesday, June 21, 6pm at the Conference Room, Administration Bldg., Capital Hill<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Wednesday, June 22, 6pm at the Kagman Community Center<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tuesday, June 28, 6pm at the San Vicente Elementary School Cafeteria<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 6pm at the Dandan Elementary School Cafeteria<\/p>\n<p>The public\u2019s participation in this community engagement will help map Internet access, usage and attitudes. Refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p>One Economy is a global nonprofit organization that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people.  More than 17 million people have used One Economy\u2019s online tools and resources, including The Beehive (www.thebeehive.org) and the Public Internet Channel (www.pic.tv). <\/p>\n<p>In 2005, One Economy expanded its mission to include global programs.
