In basketball, the Miller Lite caging played at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court had its Final Four cast and that included Armatech, Soul Jazz, Cargo Express, and Saipan World Resort. Armatech went on to beat Soul Jazz in the finals last Saturday.<\/p>\n
Over at the Garapan Basketball Court, QQ Cup also had its semis cast completed with Smart Cagers, Konflikt, Mobil, and the Sonics making it to the next round. Friday\u2019s semis games were rained-out.<\/p>\n
In softball at the Capital Hill Ballfield, Sakudi and Check It Out marched into the women\u2019s title game, while Man Amigos and Natibu arranged a finals tiff in the men\u2019s division.<\/p>\n
In the IT&E badminton tournament at the TSL Sports Complex, the singles and doubles competitions were also in the playoff round and championship games were played over the weekend.<\/p>\n
In other big events last week, the CNMI competed in the 2011 U15 Micronesian Basketball Tournament in Palau and the 2011 Oceania Regional Championships in Apia, Samoa, Tsunami Saipan dominated the Saipan International Open Water Flipper Race, Trench Tech had its Trench Warz 14: Ground Zero, and junior tennis player Thea Minor joined an ITF event.<\/p>\n
The Commonwealth made it to the finals of the girls division of MBT, while the CNMI finished fourth in the boys division.<\/p>\n
In Samoa, sprinter Yvonne Bennett set new marks in the 100m and 200m races.<\/p>\n
Tsunami Saipan also marked a record at Flipper after Kensuke Kimura took the No. 1 overall spot in the race around Managaha Island. It was the third straight time that the top finisher in the race came from Tsunami Saipan.<\/p>\n
In Trench Warz 14, Saipan fighter had mixed results in the last two bouts as Trench Tech Fasi \u201cQuickdraw\u201d Jesse won over Guam\u2019s Tyrone Jones of Underworld Extreme and Giovanni \u201cPalaxi\u201d Sablan bowed to Mark \u201cMugen\u201d Striegl of Tokyo Japan\u2019s Wajutsu Keishukai Gods.<\/p>\n
