{"id":153112,"date":"2011-06-28T21:09:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-28T21:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bc955a2c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-06-28T21:09:00","modified_gmt":"2011-06-28T21:09:00","slug":"bc955a3f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bc955a3f-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Police consider underwater search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Public Safety is mulling an underwater search as the mysterious disappearance of sisters Faloma and Maleina Luhk enters its fifth week today, Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Press secretary Angel Demapan told Saipan Tribune yesterday that DPS is considering doing an underwater search for the Luhk sisters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this is largely dependent on the weather and the level of visibility. The department has not disclosed any further details on this matter,\u201d Demapan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation Hope\u201d had local and federal authorities doing ground searches for weeks, while a helicopter from the U.S. Navy and a C-130 plane from the U.S. Air Force did an aerial search for a day. Only underwater search has not been done.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, DPS searched the cliff line of Banzai Cliff using a search and rescue boat but failed to find any trace of the girls.<\/p>\n<p>Demapan said that DPS takes all tips seriously regardless of whether it comes from a family member or from an anonymous caller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgain, the department is taking all steps to ensure that ongoing investigations are not jeopardized and therefore cannot get into more details at this time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Luhk sisters were reported missing near a bus stop in As Teo last May 25.
