Flores is appealing to the Senate to provide his office enough funding to allow him to retain his 48 full-time employees.<\/p>\n<p>Flores said he would like to retain all 48 FTEs at the Mayor\u2019s Office to serve the needs of his constituents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI need all 48 FTEs because we\u2019re already short of staff as it is,\u201d he told Saipan Tribune after he signed Wednesday the proclamation designating September as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>In his proposed 2012 budget submission, Flores asked for $1,245.024 for personnel costs, which cover the salaries of 48 FTEs.<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s proposed budget, however, only approved 38 FTEs and a budget of $756,088 for personnel costs.<\/p>\n<p>According to Flores, these FTEs are particularly needed for the implementation of the dog control program and the delivery of other public services to the community. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that the government is tight with money. But all I\u2019m asking is for the Senate to at least maintain the status quo on our budget,\u201d said the mayor.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate is expected to act this week on the $102-million budget passed by the House of Representatives last week. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saipan Mayor Donald G.
