Papua New Guinea\u2019s Venessa Waro took the other finals berth after clocking in at 26.06 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow. That\u2019s awesome. It\u2019s history for us, as we never made it to the finals of the Pacific Games before,\u201d Northern Marianas Athletics head coach Elias Rangamar said in a telephone interview yesterday after hearing the good news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NMA family wishes Rachel all the best in the finals. We\u2019re excited for her,\u201d Rangamar added.<\/p>\n<p>Abrams will race in the 200m run finals today at 5:20pm (4:20 Saipan time) against PNG\u2019s Waro, Helen Philemon (25.95 seconds), and Toea Wisil (25.12 seconds), Fiji\u2019s Paulini Korowaqa (25.33 seconds), Sisilia Seavula (26.00), and Danielle Ala Kija (26.27 seconds), and Vanuatu\u2019s Daphne Nalawas (26.47 seconds).<\/p>\n<p>In the qualifying heat, Abrams defeated Vanuatu\u2019s Susan Tama (27.52 seconds), New Caledonia\u2019s Chloe Thavel (27.74 seconds), and Nauru\u2019s Myshine Raidinen (29.72 seconds).<\/p>\n<p>Trevor Ogumoro also competed in athletics yesterday and submitted 5.90m in the long jump for 11th place.<\/p>\n<p>In beach volleyball, the CNMI\u2019s Tyce Mister and Chris Nelson absorbed their second straight setback after losing to brothers Dino and Vatea Tauraa of Tahiti, 11-21, 13-21. The Commonwealth pair won its first game over Palau last Monday before bowing to American Samoa last Tuesday. With their back-to-back losses, Nelson and Mister are out of the medal hunt.<\/p>\n<p>New Caledonia sits comfortable on top of the medal board with only three days left in the competition. The host has an 86-72-35 gold-silver-bronze tally as of 8pm last night.
