{"id":155226,"date":"2011-09-20T21:15:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T21:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bd6442e6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-09-20T21:15:00","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T21:15:00","slug":"bd6442fa-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bd6442fa-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Shirley\u2019s A takes women\u2019s futsal crown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shirley\u2019s A clinched the women\u2019s championship in the  2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League  despite losing to sister team Shirley\u2019s B, 1-4, on Monday night at the TSL Sports Complex.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Red Team\u2019s 3-3 draw against IT&#038;E Awesome in the earlier game, Shirley\u2019s A didn\u2019t have to win its last game of the season to take the women\u2019s tiara.<\/p>\n<p>Coming into Monday night\u2019s games, Shirley\u2019s A held an 11-2-0-win-loss-draw record, while IT&#038;E had a 10-2-1 mark. Had IT&#038;E Awesome won over Red Team,  the former could have improved its record to 11-2-1 and gained 35 points in the double-round robin competition, two points ahead of Shirley\u2019s A, which ended the season with 33 points and an 11-3-0 card after bowing to Shirley\u2019s B. IT&#038;E Awesome wrapped up the competition with 32 markers and a 10-2-2 slate.<\/p>\n<p>IT&#038;E Awesome was in danger of dropping an important match when Red Team took a 2-1 advantage at the break. Temary Gramlich and Zoe Jewell scored one goal apiece for Red Team, whole Nola Hix made IT&#038;E Awesome\u2019s lone goal in the opening frame.<\/p>\n<p>Hix logged another one in the second half, while Michelle Masga also found the back of the net for IT&#038;E\u2019s 3-2 advantage. However,  Jewell also scored in the second half, foiling IT&#038;E Awesome\u2019s title bid.<\/p>\n<p>In the second women\u2019s game, Shirley\u2019s A played with no pressure, as the championship was already in the bag after the IT&#038;E Awesome-Red Team draw.<\/p>\n<p>Only Maria Iriarte hit a goal for Shirley\u2019s A, while Gigi Zapanta,  Alexa Vergara,  Mikky Vargas, and Janeeka Atalig recorded one goal each for Shirley\u2019s B. Shirley\u2019s B finished third in the eight-team field with its 9-5-0 record, one win ahead of Red Team (8-5-1).<\/p>\n<p>[B]MEN\u2019S<\/p>\n<p>Red Inter 7, IT&#038;E 3[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Red Inter placed second in the men\u2019s division after a 7-3 triumph over IT&#038;E.<\/p>\n<p>Red Inter finisher the season with a 9-3-2 record, two wins behind champion Wild Bill\u2019s, while IT&#038;E was ranked fifth with its 5-7-2 card.<\/p>\n<p>Edwin Cruz and Arkie Reusora canned two goals apiece in their last game, while David Duenas, Peter Houk, and Dale Roberts added one each.<\/p>\n<p>Kirk Schuler, Yishan Wang, and Jin Han Yoon scored for IT&#038;E.<\/p>\n<p>[B]Mellow Yellow  8, Go Green 2[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Mellow Yellow also ended its campaign in the men\u2019s league on a winning note, thumping Go Green, 8-2.<\/p>\n<p>Woo Ho Jin, Young Sin Lim, and Dhras Chetku tallied two goals each for Mellow Yellow, which drew one goal apiece from Kevin McCale and Man Ki Doh.<\/p>\n<p>Panapa Peteru and Jack Phan were the only two players to score for Go Green, which finished sixth with its 4-7-3 slate.
