Dynasty management confirmed the winning yesterday, adding that the amount has been won at a baccarat tournament over the last few weeks. Baccarat is a card game.<\/p>\n
Because of safety and security concerns, Dynasty management declined to provide more information about the winners.<\/p>\n
The Dynasty management said that back in 2000, they had a $3 million winner. Six or seven years ago, there was another $3 million winner.<\/p>\n
\u201cMiracles do happen at a casino. People do win in a casino,\u201d the management said.<\/p>\n
Senate Vice President Jude Hofschneider (R-Tinian), when asked for comment, said whoever won the $2.5 million must be a lucky person or persons.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope people will be encouraged to play at Dynasty, whether tourists or from here in the CNMI,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
[B]Promoting CNMI in Guangdong Province[\/B]<\/p>\n
In other news, senators and Tinian Dynasty executives met yesterday with the chairman of China\u2019s Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, Yang Rongsen.<\/p>\n
Yang\u2019s visit is expected to boost arrivals from Guangdong Province to the CNMI. The CNMI has charter flights from Guangdong.<\/p>\n
Tom Liu, general manager of Dynasty, said for a tourism official of Yang\u2019s stature to personally visit the CNMI and help promote the CNMI as a tourist destination among Guangdong Province residents is great news for the islands.<\/p>\n
Yang will also be visiting Saipan.<\/p>\n
Senate President Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota), who was on Tinian yesterday along with six other senators, said that Guangdong Province has a population of 100 million and even if only a portion of that market could be tapped by the CNMI, that will greatly help the islands\u2019 tourism industry.<\/p>\n
Senators also met with Dynasty chair Michael Kwan, who senators said presented the casino\u2019s development plans about Dynasty.<\/p>\n
