{"id":155545,"date":"2011-10-03T20:02:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-03T20:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bd70b2b6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-10-03T20:02:00","modified_gmt":"2011-10-03T20:02:00","slug":"bd70b2ca-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bd70b2ca-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Man in prison for sex abuse of minor faces immigration fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man who is currently serving a prison term for sexually abusing a minor girl is facing a new criminal case in federal court for the alleged filing in 2009 of a false statement before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment charged Steven Romie Aguon with one count of immigration document fraud. His initial appearance before the U.S. District Court for the NMI will be on Friday, Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment filed by assistant U.S. attorney Beverly R. McCallum, Aguon made a false statement to USCIS in an application and document Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) he filed on Dec. 2, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In the supporting USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information), Aguon allegedly stated that he was married and that Linlin Song was his wife.<\/p>\n<p>Song\u2019s marital status was material to USCIS\u2019 determination of Song\u2019s application for lawful permanent resident status.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon then allegedly knew the statement was false since he had divorced Song on Feb. 23, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2010, Superior Court then associate judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed a two-year prison term on Aguon for sex abuse of a minor girl.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon had pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.<\/p>\n<p>The charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree is still pending.
