Bank of Guam, Bank of Hawaii, Citibank, and ANZ head to Guam\u2019s high schools on Oct. 20 to discuss the importance of responsible debt management.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the nation\u2019s 8th annual \u201cGet Smart About Credit\u201d Day, dozens of bankers, organized by Bank of Guam,  will visit graduating seniors at Guam\u2019s schools to talk about credit, how much is needed and how to best manage debt.  <\/p>\n<p>To date, the following schools have signed up:  Notre Dame High, JP Torres Alternative, Academy of Our Lady of Guam, St. John\u2019s School, Simon Sanchez High School, Father Duenas Memorial, Harvest Christian Academy, Evangelical Christian Academy, and Temple Christian Academy.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the banks will be joined by members of the Association of Government Accountants as well as the Guam Legislature.  The program is nationally sanctioned by the American Bankers Association as part of its financial literacy outreach program.  Last year, the volunteer program reached nearly 1,000 high school seniors.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the program is being extended to Saipan, where schools are still signing up.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of Guam president and board chair Lou Leon Guerrero stated: \u201cIt is vital that young adults learn about the responsible use of credit and that such decisions have far-reaching consequences.
