{"id":155730,"date":"2011-10-10T18:54:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-10T18:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bd7cd53b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-10-10T18:54:00","modified_gmt":"2011-10-10T18:54:00","slug":"bd7cd54e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bd7cd54e-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Remedios Church parish honors patron saint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parishioners of Santa Remedios Church honored their patron saint, Nuestra Se\u00f1ora Bithen De Los Remedios, on Oct. 9, with a Mass followed by a procession of the patrons saint\u2019s image around the Tanapag Village.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Tomas Camacho, apostolic administrator Fr. Ryan Jimenez, and parish priest Fr. Aurelius Stoia celebrated the fiesta Mass at 3pm. Over a hundred parishioners that included catechists, students, choir members, and the Legion of Mary &#038; Christian Mothers joined in the procession followed by the much-awaited fiesta banquet across the parish church.<\/p>\n<p>The feast featured mostly local food, including fried fresh fish, fried chicken, pork steak, beef steak, roasted pig, and roasted cow\u2014the fiesta\u2019s annual specialty for the past seven years.<\/p>\n<p>The parish includes residents from Achugao, Tanapag, Lower Base, and As Mahetog villages as well as parts of Capital Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Santa Remedios Parish Council\u2019s Julie Lieto said the fiesta celebration is very important for the parishioners to pay tribute to their village patron saint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year, we always have a celebration,\u201d Lieto said. \u201cWe also invite outsiders through advertisement in the media.
