Days before its biggest annual fundraising event, the American Red Cross \u2013 NMI Chapter accepted yesterday a $15,000 check donation from Bank of Guam and a 2011 Ford Fiesta from the Joeten Charitable Foundation and Joeten Motor Company, Inc.<\/p>\n
Both donations will be used as prizes for the 23rd Annual Club 200 on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Fiesta Resort and Spa in Garapan. This year\u2019s theme for the dinner and raffle event is \u201cFantasy Island.\u201d<\/p>\n
Marcie M. Tomokane, Bank of Guam vice president and CNMI regional manager and a former Red Cross board member herself, said their regular donation for the annual fundraising event ranges from $10,000 to $15,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re proud to be one of the major sponsors of the American Red Cross Club 200 event,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a good organization that\u2019s always there in times of need, especially during disasters and calamities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joeten Motors general manager Matthew Deets said that they have made cash and in-kind donations to the Club 200 but he believes this is the first time they actually donated a car.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe support the CNMI and the American Red Cross, which is a very good organization. We\u2019re always happy to be a part of the Annual Club 200 event,\u201d said Deets.<\/p>\n
Teresa Kim, this year\u2019s Club 200 committee co-chair, told Saipan Tribune that they are \u201cvery grateful\u201d for the donations they receive from Club 200 corporate donors and that they \u201care ahead of our sales this year\u201d with members of the public buying Club 200 tickets ahead of time. The tickets cost $100 each. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited about that,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n
Despite the challenging times, Kim hopes to see at the Club 200 not just their regular supporters but also new supporters as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe economy is bad but I really hope for people to come out and at least enjoy themselves for that one evening and have a sense of fulfillment at the end of the night knowing that they did help the American Red Cross,\u201d said Kim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
