The Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Service (NMC-CREES) wants to remind farmers and ranchers of the CNMI that grants are available to them from the Western Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by Utah State University. <\/p>\n
The grants from WSARE are meant to promote good stewardship\u00a0of the nation\u2019s natural resources, to enhance the quality of life\u00a0of farmers and ranchers, to ensure the viability of rural communities, to protect the health and safety\u00a0of those involved in food and farm systems, and to promote crop, livestock and enterprise diversification.<\/p>\n
There are several grant types available. Farmers and ranchers can avail up to $15,000 and groups with a minimum of three farmers may get up to $25,000. Professional + Producer Grants are limited to $50,000. Additionally, WSARE provides grants for professional development of agriculturists up to $60,000.<\/p>\n
