Reyes Elementary School got off to a rousing start in the 2012 NMIFA Interscholastic U12 League after breezing past Kagman Elementary School, 4-0, last Thursday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.<\/p>\n<p>WSR\u2019s Joaquin Saralu broke the ice with a quick goal in the fourth minute before Korey Leon fired home a second goal in the 18th minute of the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Kagman tightened up its defense after the break, but the Kingfishers managed a couple of late goals from Shakobe Rangamar and Saralu in the 16th and 19th minute, respectively, to complete their impressive debut win.<\/p>\n<p>In the girls division, WSR also defeated Kagman, 3-1.<\/p>\n<p>WSR took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to a pair of goals by Chloe Salvasa. Salvasa drilled her first goal in the fourth and five minutes later, she scored anew.<\/p>\n<p>Kagman\u2019s Sweetalen Willy found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the second half to move within one. Kagman tried to equalize, but committed a defensive lapse, giving WSR a free goal.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two more games were played in the opening day of the NMIFA U12 league. <\/p>\n<p>In the girls division, Koblerville Elementary School forced a 2-2 draw against Oleai Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>The Turtles took a 2-0 lead at halftime, but the Lady Umangs recovered and managed a stalemate after getting one goal each from Renita Fleming and Joeny Villagomez.<\/p>\n<p>In the boys division Oleai led Koblerville midway in the second half off Bada Lee\u2019s twin goals, 2-0. The final results of the boys game were unavailable at press time. <\/p>\n<p>The U12 league will resume on Monday with four games at the Hopwood pitch, starting at 3:30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William S.
