Nolas Kaliga edged Patrick Cepeda to win Sunday\u2019s King of the Table 8-ball Tournament at 19th Hole.<\/p>\n
The tilt used a round-robin format with the winner scoring one point each turn he held the table. The loser was given another chance to come back later and rack up points.<\/p>\n
Noran Tenorio, Edward Suzuki and Ron Chisato finished in a three-way tie for third place. Suzuki took a tiebreaker from Chisato to grab third. Thinking he wouldn\u2019t place, Tenorio had already gone home.<\/p>\n
Kaliga ran off five wins to start the match before Tenorio took him off the table. Cepeda won five in a row when his turn came, then fell to Kun M. Ka\u2019ainoa.<\/p>\n
Kaliga beat Ka\u2019ainoa, but Taylor Watanabe made him sit down. Cepeda fell to Chisato in a close match when he came back to the table, leaving him in second place and one point behind. It was sweet revenge for Chisato who had a chance to end Cepeda\u2019s winning streak in his first time up but short-stroked an easy 8-ball in the side pocket.<\/p>\n
Chisato also stopped Cepeda\u2019s Sunday tournament winning streak two weeks ago, winning in the first round and going on to take first place.<\/p>\n
Noa O. Ka\u2019ainoa, Leonard Sablan and Cliffton Silil rounded out the field.<\/p>\n
The entry fee was $5 and 19th Hole added $20 to make the pot bigger. First and second place winners split the pot and trophies went to first to fifth place winners. There was also a raffle for four buckets of beer.<\/p>\n
Round-robin action continues Thursday through Sunday to earn points for the Nov. 23 Marianas Turkey Shoot. Fifteen maximum points are needed to earn entry to MTS competition. Entry fee is $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tournament. Players can start paying their partial entry fees to Rose or Ken until Nov. 22. Frozen turkey, cash to the Top 3 finishers, and trophies for the Top 5 will be awarded.<\/p>\n
