Mark Staal is now the president of Tsunami Swimmer Center Saipan after being selected in an election late last month.<\/p>\n
Staal, father of CNMI record-holder Kai Staal, replaced longtime Tsunami Saipan president Stan Good. Joining the older Staal in the Tsunami Saipan board are vice president Michael Pai, treasurer Yoriko Sugie, secretary Millet Wong, parents representative Yuko Kimura, and swimmers representative Rezne Wong. The club will still have Hiro Kimura as coach.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to thank Hiro and Yuko personally for asking me to take over the duties and responsibilities of the president of the Tsunami swim team. I am honored to help out the team and humbled by their support. I witnessed what discipline and hard work can do for our swimmers through seeing what they did for my son Kai Staal and Rezne Wong,\u201d Staal said in an email to Tsunami Saipan members and their parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cSwimming with coach Hiro has done a lot for Kai, and if you keep trying your best, it can do a lot for you, too,\u201d the new Tsunami Saipan president added.<\/p>\n
For his part, coach Kimura said Tsunami Saipan is not only about swimming fast.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe help swimmers learn the right attitude, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the value of working hard,\u201d Kimura said.<\/p>\n
The Tsunami Saipan coach added their swimmers\u2019 success will not be possible without the help of their parents and he is counting on their support in the coming years.<\/p>\n
\u201cParents\u2019 cooperation and understanding are really needed. Parents and club officials are hoping to have children with a healthy and healthy body through swimming. We will do our best to make a big difference to our children,\u201d Kimura said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Tsunami Saipan coach is encouraging the club\u2019s swimmers to support Kensuke Kimura and Shigeki Tenorio\u2019s bids in the FINA\/ARENA Swimming World Cup 2011 in Tokyo, Japan this weekend.<\/p>\n
The two CNMI swimmers will be competing in two events each in Tokyo on Nov. 12 and 13 and will leave Saipan with coach Kimura on Friday. Kensuke Kimura is entered in the 100m individual medley and 50m freestyle swims of the short course tournament (25-meter pool) at the Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center, while Tenorio is joining the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle races.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
