{"id":156528,"date":"2011-11-09T20:28:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-09T20:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bd942206-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-11-09T20:28:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-09T20:28:00","slug":"bd942217-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bd942217-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"NMI eyes participation in design challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Registration for the 2011-2012 Real World Design Challenge is now open! <\/p>\n<p>This is an annual competition that gives high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment. <\/p>\n<p>Teams of three to seven high school students will be asked to address a challenge that confronts the nation\u2019s leading industries. Students will use professional engineering software to develop their solutions and will also generate presentations that convincingly demonstrate the value of their solutions. <\/p>\n<p>Every teacher or team that participates in the RWDC gets $1 million in professional engineering software along with training, curriculum materials, and access to mentors. <\/p>\n<p>Students first compete in a state level Governors Cup. The team with the best design in each state gets an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national finals. <\/p>\n<p>CNMI private and public school teachers\/coaches\/school teams are scheduled to meet today, Nov. 10, 2011, to discuss the CNMI\u2019s participation in this competition. The meeting is from 3pm to 4:30pm, at the Office of Instructional Services, second floor of the CNMI PSS Central Office (Bwoghos Road, Chalan Kanoa). <\/p>\n<p>Sign up today at www.realworlddesignchallenge.org.
