These additional courses include welding, the OUPV or 6-pack captain’s license, painting, heating ventilation, and air-conditioning.

“We’ve had students show interest in those courses so we’re looking at using some of the resources we have to offer those classes,” Alvarez told Saipan Tribune.

The new courses, Alvarez said, will be funded through the $200,000 federal grant made possible by Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan.

Alvarez noted, however, that they would need a minimum of eight students to sign up per class to help them cover basic overhead.

NMTI founder and president Anthony Pellegrino said these new courses were suggestions from the community itself. “In other words, we don’t dictate. It’s the demand of the community.”

Pellegrino also invites residents with skills in welding, plumbing, masonry, painting, and other trades to become instructors at NMTI. “I’d like to request anybody in the community who has many skills, men and women, to come to our school and register as a potential instructor. I would like to talk to them because we need instructors,” he said.

There is no age restriction and it doesn’t matter whether they are still working or are already retired, Pellegrino said. “We need you. Without instructors, we cannot teach students.”

To enroll, become an instructor or for more information, visit NMTI in Lower Base next to Saipan Ice & Water Co. or call 235-6684.

The Northern Marianas Trades Institute has announced that it will offer more courses for residents who want to learn new skills.

[4

post-156548","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news
["GET
