Wiseman has imposed a 60-day prison term on a man who repeatedly hit a 16-year-old boy with an extension cord on the arm and back and slapped him in the face on Tinian.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman sentenced 37-year-old Eugene M. San Nicolas to a year in prison, all suspended except for 60 days, for assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>In a written order issued early this week, Wiseman gave San Nicolas credit for the seven days he had already spent in jail.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas was ordered to start serving the remaining days of his sentence on Jan. 10, 2012. He will be released on April 3, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>After completing his sentence, San Nicolas will be placed on supervised probation for a year. He was also directed to undergo anger management counseling and to pay a $100 fine, $25 court assessment fee, plus probation fee.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Attorney General had charged San Nicolas with assault with a dangerous weapon, child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. <\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas, assisted by assistant public defender Benjamin Petersburg, pleaded guilty to assault and battery as part of a plea deal. The remaining charges were dropped.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas hit the victim in the face several times and repeatedly struck him with an extension cord on Feb. 18, 2011. A responding police officer observed swelling on the boy\u2019s back, left arm, behind the left ear, left forearm, and right hand.<\/p>\n<p>Police said that San Nicolas admitted hitting the boy for talking back.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant attorney general Russell Lorfing prosecuted the case. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Superior Court associate judge David A.
