{"id":157014,"date":"2011-11-29T19:35:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T19:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bdab59c7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-11-29T19:35:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T19:35:00","slug":"bdab59d8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bdab59d8-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Fiesta Resort kicks off Christmas for the man\u2019amko"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fiesta Resort &#038; Spa in Garapan started the Christmas ball rolling for the island\u2019s elderly population by treating the man\u2019amko to a holiday luncheon at the Hibiscus Hall yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>The luncheon was made more special with the hotel\u2019s own executives serving the over 50 congregates and Aging Center staff led by director Rose Mondala.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never seen such a beautiful welcome, seeing the Fiesta staff lined up to greet us from the moment we stepped out of the car and as we walked to the venue,\u201d Mondala said in her remarks before lunch was served.<\/p>\n<p>Mondala said the Aging Center \u201ctracks\u201d those who remember the man\u2019amko through the years and Fiesta Resort &#038; Spa is always one of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to thank you for thinking of us again,\u201d said Mondala. \u201cYou take care of us on our important days and that\u2019s why we will give back to you as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As their way of giving back, Mondala announced that they will hold their celebration of Mes\u2019 Man\u2019amko or Older American Month in May at the Fiesta Resort &#038; Spa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHappy holidays and we promise you that we will be back,\u201d added Mondala.<\/p>\n<p>Food and beverage manager Das Krishnan disclosed that the annual luncheon was initially set for Thanksgiving but because of the man\u2019amko\u2019s schedule, they had to change it to a special season\u2019s greeting lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Krishnan said they had a Chamorro healthy menu\u2014\u201csomething soft and easy and healthy\u201d\u2014in mind when they thought of dishes to be included in the sumptuous feast for the man\u2019amko.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s banquet featured garden salad with various dressings, sushi, beef and broccoli, pancit, white rice, fried rolls, fish fillet, and fried chicken. Velvet cake and slices of oranges served as desserts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish them best health and happy season\u2019s greetings,\u201d said Krishnan. <\/p>\n<p>Human resource manager Guadalupe Flores said the holiday feast for the man\u2019amko is one of their ways to give back to the community. \u201cWe really need to take care of our elderly folks and this is something we enjoy doing. We\u2019re very happy they could join us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The luncheon was accompanied by an island show featuring the Tasi and the Ali\u2019is, composed of Tasi, Rex, John, Bernard, Ken, Marilyn, Kate, Shelby, and Momoko.<\/p>\n<p>Following the performance, Fiesta Resort staff invited the man\u2019amko to a dance showdown. Of the seven pairs that joined the contest, the tandem of Leonides Marinas and Felisa Basa earned the nod of the Fiesta Resort staff who named them the winners. They each got $100.<\/p>\n<p>Maxim Mereb and Christiana Michael were declared second place, each receiving $50 cash.
