{"id":157039,"date":"2011-11-30T19:28:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-30T19:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bdab90a6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-11-30T19:28:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T19:28:00","slug":"bdab90b9-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bdab90b9-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Traffic signal at SV-Dandan junction to be activated Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Public Works is informing the public that it will activate the traffic signal in the San Vicente\/Dandan intersection on Friday, Dec. 2.<\/p>\n<p>DPW officials and staff were at the site yesterday to test all the lights in the three-way traffic signal and ensure that everything is fully functional to facilitate traffic flow in the area and for the safety of motorists passing by.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to activate it because it\u2019s a critical section due to the nearby schools and church in that area,\u201d highway administrator Sonya Pangelinan-Dancoe told Saipan Tribune. <\/p>\n<p>The traffic signal is part of the first phase of a large road construction project in the area. The project is fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration under the U.S. Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p>A ribbon cutting ceremony that would mark the functioning traffic signal is slated next week.<\/p>\n<p>While the project still has many components that remain to be completed, DPW Secretary Martin C. Sablan noted that having the traffic signal up and running is a welcome development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re glad we\u2019re coming down to the end.
