{"id":157274,"date":"2011-12-09T20:17:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T20:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bdb43b2b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-12-09T20:17:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T20:17:00","slug":"bdb43b3b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bdb43b3b-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 61, allegedly strikes niece\u2019s left hand with machete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 61-year-old man allegedly struck his niece with a machete on the left hand when she told him to wash his hands at her residence in As Lito yesterday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Bernardo Toss Sebangiol was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault and battery.<\/p>\n<p>As of yesterday afternoon, the victim was still confined at the Commonwealth Health Center as her left hand was severely cut, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court associate judge Joseph James Norita Camacho found probable cause to justify Sebangiol\u2019s arrest on those charges. <\/p>\n<p>Camacho appointed the Public Defender\u2019s Office to represent the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>Bail was imposed at $25,000 cash bail. Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 15, 2011 at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>At the hearing, assistant attorney general Nicole Driscoll called to the witness stand Police Officer Patrick Sablan who narrated to the court the circumstances of the defendant\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigation showed that Sebangiol got angry when his niece told him to wash his hands.
