{"id":157290,"date":"2011-12-11T19:29:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-11T19:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bdb454b7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-12-11T19:29:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-11T19:29:00","slug":"bdb454c7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bdb454c7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds treated to \u2018finest performance to date\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Glushko\u2019s Academy of Performing Arts delivered anew a wonderful holiday treat to hundreds of community members with its staging of one of the greatest classical ballets of all time, Swan Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Opening the production was the presentation of the main characters, led by Russia\u2019s Natalia Kolosova and Daniil Kurynov of the Saratov State Ballet Theater as Princess Odette\/Odille and Prince Siegfried, respectively; local talent Guo \u201cMike\u201d Hao as the evil genius Von Rothbart; and the role of the Queen played by Helen Ann Bucher.<\/p>\n<p>The academy\u2019s interpretation of Swan Lake was enhanced with performances from its 45 young and enthusiastic students. <\/p>\n<p>With better synchronicity and supreme choreography, audiences of the two-night ballet show agreed that this year\u2019s production from the island\u2019s premier dance school is billed as the finest to date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do feel like it\u2019s out best performance so far because we have the best team,\u201d said Anna Glushko, the creative force behind the academy\u2019s annual Christmas production, after Saturday\u2019s show. \u201cWe finally got it perfected but it\u2019s never easy. It gets harder every year because we always raise the bar high and we want to make it better each time for our audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Glushko noted that the great reviews for this year\u2019s show will only encourage them to surpass them in next year\u2019s production. \u201cEvery year, we\u2019re going to try to beat this record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gene Eagle-Oden, academy president, said the $40,000 production was painstakingly designed and arranged by Glushko herself\u2014from needlework for the vibrant costumes to music editing\u2014for about two months. The dance routine itself took a year of training and rehearsal to make it flawless, he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnna had to do it herself and we\u2019re relying on her unique talent. She is the only person on island who can have 45 students perform with professional ballet dancers. Saipan is very lucky to have Anna,\u201d Eagle-Oden told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>Their annual productions only break even, making them a \u201creal labor of love,\u201d Eagle-Oden revealed. \u201cIt\u2019s Anna\u2019s passion for dancing and her love for her students that brings her to put this show together year after year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The excerpts of Swan Lake was followed by the Concert of the International Ballet Stars.
