DFS Galleria and MP United U12 posted the biggest wins last week.<\/p>\n
DFS dominated PSS\/McGraw-Hill in the finals, 92-63, to clinch the championship in the 3rd Annual Shirley\u2019s Coffee Shop Invitational Basketball League at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.<\/p>\n
Pete Iguel led DFS\u2019 title victory, scoring 28 points and he also took home the Finals MVP. PSS\u2019 Dave Sablan claimed the regular season MVP trophy and made it to the Mythical Five along with DFS\u2019 Jack Lizama, Fiesta\u2019s Elmer Esdrelon, Mobil\u2019s Jun Estolas, and Shirley\u2019s Kae Bernardo.<\/p>\n
Over at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, MP United U12 topped the FA Cup for boys U12 and girls U15 teams after beating Paire U12 in the finals, 1-0. <\/p>\n
Amir Abes scored the lone goal in the finale and MP United U12 received the perpetual trophy from NMIFA president Jerry Tan in a brief ceremony at the Hopwood pitch.<\/p>\n
Still in football at the Oleai Sports Complex Field, the Final Four in the FA Challenge Cup (for boys U15 and U18 and women\u2019s squads) were completed last week with Matansa U18, Paire U18, and MP United U18 and U15 making the elite list. The two MP United squads went on to duel for the championship.<\/p>\n
In the Men\u2019s FA Cup at the Oleai pitch, Inter Godfather and Wild Bill\u2019s advanced to the finals after their separate semis wins. Wild Bill\u2019s claimed the first finals berth after downing Paire Football Club, 4-1, while Inter Godfather\u2019s triumphed over MP United A in the other semis pairing, 3-1. Inter Godfather and Wild Bill\u2019s played in the finals yesterday afternoon, but results of the title game were unavailable at press time.<\/p>\n
Other notable performances last week were the record swims of Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Lukas Kang and Ryuto Yanai and the on-going basketball leagues on Saipan.<\/p>\n
Yanai reset two more CNMI age group marks in the boys U8 division, while Kang made one during the Tsunami Swim Circuit Series 4 at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi. Yanai swam in the 50m freestyle and timed in at 33.65 seconds to eclipse the CNMI age group mark (33.85) he set on Nov. 12, 2011. Then in the 200m freestyle, the 8-year-old Yanai timed in at 2:45.35, shaving more than five seconds from his previous age group record (4:50.52) logged on Feb. 4, 2011. Kang\u2019s lone record in the last swim circuit came in the 200m individual medley where he logged 2:58.63, more than six seconds faster than his previous mark of 3:04.92 (April 15, 2011).<\/p>\n
In the GBL IT&E Cup at the Garapan Basketball Court, IT&E Konflikt, Proa, and FGC advanced to the semifinals, while Blue Haus and Mobil will battle for the last Final Four slot.<\/p>\n
